REUTERS/Yuri Gripa7Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry has stopped paying his campaign staff after failing to raise enough money, signaling the Republican presidential candidate is facing serious financial issues, CBS News reported.

Perry’s super PAC is reportedly preparing to expand and compensate for the struggling campaign, according to super PAC and campaign officials. Campaign staff at his national headquarters in Austin and in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina are no longer being paid, a Republican familiar with the campaign told The Washington Post.

Campaign manager Jeff Miller told staff last Friday they were free to look for other jobs.

Perry has faced a series of challenges in his bid for the 2016 GOP nomination, raising only $1.1 million in the second quarter and missing the cut for the main debate last week. Read more at CBS News.
