sal-albaneseWoodridge, NY – Sal F. Albanese, born in Italy and raised in Brooklyn, says he hasn’t been to the Catskills in more than 40 years. But with time running out for his candidacy for mayor of New York, Mr. Albanese took his campaign far outside the five boroughs on Friday, a trip that was a product of political calculation and another sortie in his battle against anonymity.

Mr. Albanese, a Democrat and former city councilman, came seeking the support of the sizable summertime Orthodox Jewish community, many of whose members have fled crowded Brooklyn apartments for the quiet of country life, albeit in decidedly no-frills bungalows.
