Rob Ford is actually doing something right for a change. The embattled Toronto mayor announced Wednesday night that he is “ready to take a break” from his reelection campaign and “go get help” for substance abuse (though he still intends to remain on the ballot, at the urging of the people around him).
Ford, who previously laughed off the idea of rehab, became notorious after getting caught on video tape smoking crack cocaine last year. One detail surrounding the annoucement is keeping people from sending over their congratulations, however: The Toronto Sun recently obtained a new audio tape of Ford misbehaving, “ranting and swearing in an Etobicoke bar”–which some skeptics believe is the real reason Ford has suddenly had a change of heart.
