gaza-rocketsRockets were fired at Israel from Gaza Strip this evening, two hours before a 72-hour ceasefire was set to expire at midnight. A rocket from Gaza fell in an open area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council and another was reportedly intercepted.

Code red sirens were heard throughout the south this evening, including the area of Kiryat Gat and the Hof Ashkelon, Sha’ar Hanegev and Yoav regional councils.

The news came as Israeli and Palestinian delegations were working to extend the three day old ceasefire in Gaza.

Ynet reports that the head of the Palestinian delegation, Azzam al-Ahmed, said today that talks in Cairo have ended, but did not say if a deal had been reached. Meanwhile a Hamas source said negotiations have failed and that the Palestinian delegation will announce it is leaving. Israel has reportedly accepted the deal.

  1. Is today just another day? It sure seems like it. The weather was exactly as predicted, mixed sun and rain, sixty seven degrees, with a gentle breeze. The birds chirp their usual, seemingly meaningless songs and the boring buzz from the nearby highway harmonizes with the rustlings of the swaying trees. It’s just another Wednesday. Deep down I’m wondering what subtle surprises today might bring. Will I run out of cereal? Will there be construction on the road as I commute to work? Will an old friend call? There’s usually at least something a bit unique about each individual day (or so I like to think). So what might today bring?
Yesterday, as I was walking to the nearby grocery, I saw a drunkard parading around the streets in his boxers, screaming the most insane proclamations for the sorry passerby to hear. (“I am Alexander the Great! I command the greatest forces ever known to mankind! Fight for honor!”) It was a pitiful sight, but it was something, the recollection brings half a smile to my face. Yet I dare not hope for an event of such extraordinary magnitude to stroll my way two days in a row, so what might today bring?
Hey! Rockets! Who would have thought?
Gotta run to the nearby shelter. Bye guys.

  2. Bomb the kishke out of them
    OR
