Barack Obama and Mitt Romney stood toe-to-toe and harangued one another for telling untruths on Tuesday, as naked dislike flared between the two rivals in a fiery presidential debate.
Minutes into the clash, Republican Romney and Democrat Obama stood just a few feet apart, trading charge and counter charge in a furious verbal slanging match.
“Governor Romney says he has a five-point plan. He doesn’t have a five-point plan. He has a one-point plan, and that is to make sure that folks at the top play by a different set of rules,” Obama blasted about his challenger’s economic policy.
In one heated exchange over energy, Romney triggered an audible gasp of shock in the hall hosting the debate, when he snapped at the president: “You’ll get your chance in a moment, I’m still speaking.”
“Not true, Governor Romney, not true,” Obama said, after Romney savaged the president’s record on oil production over the last four years.
Just 21 days before the election, the obvious antipathy between the candidates reflected stakes that could hardly be higher as national polls and the race in battleground states tightens into a dead heat.

The institution of the presidency was dealt unforgivable disrespect when the position became occupied by one Barack Hussein Obama.
So it’s okay for the President to interrupt? I don’t know what goes on in Germany these days, but this is a debate, where each man gets his turn to speak. The President was the rude one, thank you.

That is the problem with this debate format.
I understand your point but the format is set up that way.
If he or Crowley were to be utterly reverential of the man in office, the one who is not president can not get his points across. He categorically has to go against the president.
I think the town hall format should be done away with, as it further erodes people’s already low regard for the office.

You are wrong. In a one-on-one debate, neither party to the debate — not the President and not the Governor — has to give the other more respect during the debate than the other gives him.

Mike, StillInExile nailed it. Obama utterly and unforgivably disrespects the instititution of the Presidency on a daily basis.
Where is the media on this? When Howard Dean was using a loud voice at a noisy convention rallying the electorate, Fox News labeled it the “Dean Scream” and “not presidential”–the main stream media picked up the exaggeration–and it cost him the presidency. In this case, we have actual footage of Mitt Romney truly being “not presidential”–where is the media now labeling his behavior? Where is Fox News labeling his unpresidential behavior?
Truth be told, “Racial Tension” still exists in America. None of Flip Flop Romney’s supporters, “Uncle Toms”, Women who depend on men to support them while they stay at home and let men control them and pay their bills “BINDER WOMEN”, along with those individuals that were born with a silver spoon in their mouth who have NO IDEA what working hard is all about included, or some members of the Republican Party support or respect The President of the United States Of America because he is BLACK! 12 years ago, it was the Bush Administration and the Republican Party that put America in the position that we are in today. It is disturbing to know that there are “some” closed minded people who think that because President Obama hasn’t cleaned up the mess that was created by the Republican party in 4 years that he needs to be replaced with an individual who does not respect women or 47% of America. “Some of you people” can’t be serious. I am so thankful, that I was raised to treat everyone with respect and as equal, regardless of their race. Romney was totally out of line and disrespectful to The President of the United States. excuse me? how would it be a fair debate if Romney had 2 be walking on eggshells around Obama while Obama repeatedly cuts into his time and degrades him?

Sounds like you’ve been living abroad for too long. The president is neither our king, nor our savior, nor our leader, nor our boss.
He is our servant. He is, if you will, “the help”. His job is to execute our instructions briskly and cheerfully, and to like it.
The only people who owe him any particular respect are those in the military, and in the executive branch. He is entitled to nothing from anyone else.
