ron-paul2Ron Paul doesn’t think much of the “political shenanigans” going on in Washington, including the recent spat between his son, Sen. Rand Paul, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Christie and Paul traded verbal punches last week, including Christie criticizing Paul for pork-barrel spending and Paul saying Christie was the “king of bacon.” In an interview for ABC News-Yahoo! News with ABC’s Reena Ninan, the elder Paul said he thought the fight was “irrelevant.”

“We have a revolution going on now. It’s an intellectual revolution,” Paul said. “It isn’t this political shenanigans that everybody wants to talk about. I think it’s useless. So I deal in the philosophy of economics, no interventionist foreign policy and civil liberties. And that’s an entirely different issue than dealing with the shenanigans going on in Washington.”

Rand Paul is often mentioned as a possible contender for the GOP nomination in 2016. Asked about the chances the younger Paul makes a run for the White House, Paul said he hasn’t talked to his son about it.

“You’ll have to ask him,” he said. “I have no idea. I haven’t talked to him.”
