Rush Limbaugh: Skipping Debate Shows Trump Can Make Own Rules

Donald Trump has attained and held his lead in the GOP presidential race by not playing by the rules, and Tuesday’s announcement that he will not participate in Fox News Channel’s debate Thursday shows he can succeed by continuing to do so, conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his show Wednesday.

“Everything he’s doing goes against the book,” Limbaugh said. “Everything that any analyst or consultant or professional would tell you not to do, Donald Trump is doing it, and he’s leading the pack.”

Politics, he said, is like any other business, and those who are the “elites” inside it hate outsiders.

“They don’t want outsiders just storming in trying to take over, and much less succeeding at it,” he said. “Like any group of elites, they’re exclusionary. They want to keep people out.”

But Trump has been functioning outside their long-established structure and they haven’t been able to keep him out of the club, and that makes those in charge of the structure feel threatened, Limbaugh said.

The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza agreed, writing, “What Limbaugh grasps is that there is simply no blueprint for what Trump has done and is doing. No one has ever — or at least in modern presidential politics — said the sorts of things that Trump has said and succeeded.”

Trump choosing to walk away from a debate “on Fox News no less!” is telling, Cillizza says, since the debates are one of the last aspects the elites control.

“The establishment can’t do anything about it. And Trump — and his supporters — love that,” Cillizza said.

Limbaugh said Trump’s methods can easily be found: Simply read his book “The Art of the Deal.”

“In ‘The Art of the Deal,’ one of the things that he makes a huge deal about is being able to know when to walk away and have the guts and the courage to do it,” Limbaugh said.

Trump knows he was savaged after the first debate from questions from moderator Megyn Kelly and sees no reason to give her a chance for a repeat, Limbaugh said. Read more at NEWSMAX.

    • And people complain about Obama and Clinton making their own rules? Hypocrites!

Trump can’t handle Megan Kelly. How is he going to handle Vladimir Putin and Xi Jingping? Trump is a bully and a coward.

      • Trump handled biased Kelly very well. The current leftist administration has failed in handling any level of challengers including the Khameini and certainly Putin and Isis and China and on and on. They’ve made a historic global mess of the Middle East which is now spreading like wildfire to Europe. We need a super hero like Trump to reverse all the Leftist liberal shambles that they have left.

Clinton is a known and proven liar and has recklessly left top level secrets open to all of our enemies and her crimes are far greater than what they claim Pollard’s were. The fact that this criminal is being considered at all is a shame and embarrassment to America

      • Your comparison is extremely shallow and superficial.
The ability to make your own rules simply shows you have power. How you wield that power is what warrants the criticism. If Hillary made her own rules and possibly (probably) exposed classified info, that’s bad. If Obama made his own rules and executive orders his way around a congress and public who disagree with him, that’s wrong.
Trump skipping a debate, is not inherently wrong or right, it just shows he has the confidence to reject that with which he doesn’t agree.

  1. It’s fascinating to me how people are actually pro Trump. The biggest names are for him and it honestly reminds me of Hitlers YMS win in Germany. This man is the most liberal man to ever stand for the Republican Party and people believe he isn’t. His comments in the past were everything the Republicans fought against and now they are his biggest fans. It defies imagination.
Trump said he was Hillary’s biggest supporter. He said Obamas healthcare didn’t go far enough. He called the republican establishment “crazies” because they are “too far right”. This is the man the people who scream about the Republicans not being conservative enough want to vote for?!?!?
