Syrian city of PalmyraRussian jets have flown close to U.S. predator drones in Syria on at least three separate occasions, officials tell Fox News.

“The first time it happened, we thought the Russians got lucky,” an official said. “Then it happened two more times.”

Officials say the drones are easy to spot on a radar, and that the Russians have not attempted to shoot them down, instead just flying close to the aircrafts. A group of Syrian rebels backed by the U.S. also alleged Wednesday that a Russian airstrike hit their weapons depots.

Liwa Suqour al-Jabal commander Hassan Haj Ali told Reuters that a Russian strike hit its storage facility in Western Aleppo province Tuesday night, after hitting other depots last week. The group, trained by the CIA and Saudi Arabia, fights against ISIS.

This is the latest in a slew of allegations that Russia is focusing on taking out groups seeking to topple Bashar al-Assad. Read it more Fox News.
