After weeks of deliberations, officials at Sandy Hook Elementary came up with a solution both for the school’s relocation and for the use of the building where the worst school shooting in the nation’s history happened last December.
After considering more than 40 potential sites for a new school building, the 28-person task force unanimously chose a location: the same site as the old school, but in a new building. The old school building will be demolished and a new one built in its place, at a cost of between $42 million and $47 million.
“I’m finally at peace,” said one task force member. “I think it can be created in such a beautiful way.” Read more at New Haven Register.

Good hope? No. Good example? Probably not. Healing? At great cost and still not enough.
I would rename the school and then use the stricken classrooms as storage locations. You can not just rip down a school every time tragedy strikes.
A total waste of tax money! This is crazy!
Waste of money. How does destorying a building aid in healing.
Perhaps it would have been preferable to give that amount of money for the bereaved families.
