santorum-romneyRick Santorum said today that he would consider accepting a position as the running-mate of his rival, Mitt Romney.

Santorum was asked if he would consider joining Romney’s ticket as vice president during an interview with David Brody of The Christian Broadcasting Network.

“Of course,” Santorum responded. “I mean, look: I would do in this race — as I always say, this is the most important race in our country’s history. So I’m going to do everything I can.”

When Brody classified Santorum’s response as “keeping your options open,” the candidate repeated, “I’ll do whatever is necessary to help our country.”

At another point during the interview, Santorum insisted that his disagreements with Romney are not personal, despite the vitriol of the primary race.

“I like Mitt Romney, I think he will make a great contribution to our country, I hope it’s at some capacity within my administration in the future, but I have no personal problem with Mitt, and wish him the very best,” Santorum said.
