Search For Missing Jewish Man From Great Neck Continues

steven-m-mayerSteven M. Mayer, 65, has been missing since Monday and has not been heard of since, as was reported last week (see initial report here). Searches over the last week have been ended without results. Organizations as Shomrim, Chaverim and Hatzolah are coordinating a massive search for this morning on a specific area. Search and rescue professionals from these organizations have asked for help in bringing as many volunteers as possible to Riverhead, NY, for a detailed walking grid search. If you cannot participate in the walking search, there will be other tasks, such as handing out flyers and driving around the area.

The search will begin at 9 a.m. this morning and will continue throughout the day.

There will be a Shacharis minyan at 9:30. All volunteers are requested to report to the staging area at the Holiday In Express Hotel and Suites at 1707 Old Country Road, Route 58, Riverhead, NY 11901.

Since Riverhead is the only solid lead, experts believe that continued concentrated efforts there hold the best hope.

Those who have any specialized equipment, ATV, boats, or connections to caterers for food would be helpful as well.

  1. With all the efforts being made on behalf of Mr. Mayer, I believe one very important one is being overlooked. OFFER A SUBSTANTIAL REWARD FOR ANYONE WHO FINDS HIM. This will motivate people in communities, not associated with the search effort, to find Mr. Mayer. Flyers should be distributed publicizing the reward, as well as announcements on local and national tv and radio news stations.
