The two Secret Service agents suspected of driving a government car through a White House security barricade while drunk last week were disrupting an active bomb investigation, The Washington Post reported.

Citing officials familiar with the incident, the Post reports the pair drove through police tape, hit a temporary barricade, and ended up directly next to the package, which turned out to be a book wrapped in a green T-shirt.

Earlier that night, a woman shouted she was holding a bomb before dropping the package near the White House and fleeing to her car. Two of the agents under investigation for the incident are Marc Connolly, the second-in-command on Obama’s detail, and George Ogilvie, a senior supervisor in the Washington field office.

The incident is the latest in a string of scandals inside the Secret Service, raising concern over the agency’s culture of professionalism. Read more at The Washington Post.
