The top leaders in the U.S. Senate—Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)—have announced their support for a resolution condemning the recent United Nations Security Council resolution that called on Israel to halt settlement activity.

The bill, introduced by Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ben Cardin (D-Md.), calls for U.N. Security Council Resolution 2334—which the Obama administration refused to veto, allowing the measure to pass—to be “repealed or fundamentally altered,” while also rejecting any efforts by outside bodies, including the U.N., to impose Israeli-Palestinian conflict solutions. In addition, the Senate resolution calls on the Obama administration to take “no action” at the Jan. 15 Paris conference on Mideast peace that “imposes an agreement or parameters on the parties.”

“Since the days of ‘Zionism is racism,’ the U.N. has been a fervently anti-Israel body and, unfortunately, that bias has never diminished. Knowing this, past administrations—both Democrat and Republican—have protected Israel from the vagaries of this biased institution. Unfortunately, by abstaining on United Nations Resolution 2334, this administration has not followed in that path,” Schumer said in a statement.

“This Senate resolution reaffirms that peace must come through direct negotiations in order to achieve a sustainable two-state solution,” he added.

Twenty U.S. senators have signed on as co-sponsors of the bill. JNS.ORG

  1. I hope everyone remembers what John Kerry did to the Yidden. I don’t want to see any Mosod ever honor him ever again. He has shown his true colors and disgraced himself in public.

  2. “I condemn in the strongest terms”. Give me a break. We hear constantly when a terrible thing happens everyone rushes to a camera, or as in this case a “sense of the Senate”, to express in nothing more than words. These condemnations are nothing more than a vehicle to allow them to do NOTHING about it. With all that has occurred with the PA has ANYONE ever submitted legislation to actually PUNISH the PA, as in cutting off all funding. I can’t help but feeling disgust every time I hear someone’s “condemnation words”.

When Senator Schumer could’ve done something – actively oppose the Iran deal – he sat on the sidelines. Now that President Obama has successfully allowed this terrible anti-Israel resolution to be approved, Schumer loudly (and uselessly) laments its passage. “Schumer the Shomer” strikes again.
