Senator Menendez Indicted for Corruption


senator-robert-menendezSenator Robert Menendez of New Jersey, a Democrat, has been indicted by federal prosecutors on 14 counts Wednesday, including eight counts of bribery. Menendez is accused of using his office to help Florida doctor and donor Salomon Melgen to resolve a medical billing dispute. Menendez admitted to flying on Melgen’s private plane to the Dominican Republic without paying, but then later reimbursed the doctor. Melgen has also reportedly been charged. Both men deny wrongdoing.

At a press conference on Wednesday night, Menendez said he was “outraged that prosecutors at the Justice Department were tricked into starting this investigation” and that he “will not be slienced” by the indictment and confident he “will be vindicated.” Read more.
