A senior Syrian scientist was killed on Saturday night when his car exploded in the Hamat district, media outlets in Syria reported.
According to the reports, the scientist, Aziz Asbar, who was in charge of the scientific research center in the city of Masyaf, was killed as he left his home. The Syrian government has yet to comment.
Israel’s undercover intelligence has been known to kill scientists working for enemy countries, notably being inked to the assassinations of four Iranian scientist between 2010 and 2012.
