seret-vizhnitzThe end of the Yom Kippur fast was marked by thousands of Seret-Vizhnitzer Chassidim who celebrated the 90th birthday of the Seret-Vizhnitzer Rebbe.

The celebration followed Yom Kippur, when thousands davened in the shadow of the Rebbe in Haifa. Despite extreme weakness, the Rebbe attended the tefillos in the Seret-Vizhnitzer bais medrash, even davening for the amud for both Kol Nidrei and Neilah.

After the fast was over, the Rebbe led a tish, where he was presented with a special gift: thousands of hours of extra Gemara learning undertaken by bochurim of the chassidus as a zechus for the Rebbe.

The Rebbe, as reported previously by Matzav.com Israel, has been hospitalized several times of the past two years.

The Rebbe, Rav Eliezer Hager, is a first cousin of the Vizhnitzer Rebbes of Bnei Brak and Monsey. He is the older of two sons of Rav Boruch Hager, the Mekor Boruch, who was a son of the Ahavas Yisroel of Vizhnitz.

  1. dear editor,

are you inviting us to his birthday party?
Because if not, what’s the point in telling us how old he is?

p.s. if you’re just telling us his personal info, what’s his social security number?

  2. You are 100% right! i totally agree. it’s one thing to show a picture and talk about him because he is a big tzaddik, but why should they put down his age???? i wonder what everyone else thinks about it.
