rush-limbaughA flower company is the seventh advertiser to pull its ads from conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s radio program in reaction to his derogatory comments about a law student.

ProFlowers said Sunday on its Facebook page that it has suspended advertising on Limbaugh’s program because his comments about Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke “went beyond political discourse to a personal attack and do not reflect our values as a company.”

The six other advertisers that say they have pulled ads from his show are mortgage lender Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems Inc., online data backup service provider Carbonite and online legal document services company LegalZoom.

ProFlowers had said on Twitter that posts it received about Limbaugh’s remarks affected its advertising strategy. ProFlowers is an online flower delivery service.

Limbaugh insulted the 30-year-old Fluke after she testified to congressional Democrats in support of national health care policies that would compel employers and other organizations, including her university, to offer group health insurance that covers certain items.

He apologized to Fluke on Saturday after being criticized by Republican and Democratic politicians and after several advertisers left the show.

Clear Channel’s Premiere Radio Networks Inc. hosts Limbaugh’s program, one of the country’s most popular talk radio shows. The company is supporting Limbaugh, whose on-air contract with Premiere runs through 2016.

Premiere Networks said in a statement emailed Sunday by spokeswoman Rachel Nelson, “We respect the right of Mr. Limbaugh, as well as the rights of those who disagree with him, to express those opinions.”

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment operates more than 850 radio stations in the U.S., and Premiere says it’s the largest radio content provider in the country, syndicating programs to more than 5,000 affiliate stations.

When asked which companies or organizations were the largest advertisers on Limbaugh’s show, Nelson said that that information was “proprietary.” Nelson declined to say how much revenue the company will lose with the advertiser defections or how much revenue Limbaugh’s show brings in.

Clear Channel’s parent company was taken private in 2008 by private equity firms Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital.

  1. Its about time this guy gets off the air!

Many years ago while working as a mashgiach I was forced to listen to his hipocrisy at a butcher shop.
He stood for morality one minute just to be vulgar and quite disgusting the other.
He is a demagogue but more than that he has assimilated many jews by using his pro Israel
trap. I pity those Jews atracted to his program.

  2. Rush will be fine. If I was him, I would take note & NEVER EVER allow these little panzy left wing Liberal companies to advertize again on the show! Unlike (the very Liberal) Imus who went groveling to his advertizers after they left him (like Bigelow Tea) when he got kicked off WFAN, Rush should hold strong & not cave in when things quiet down! Rush is not going anywhere! The left has tried for years. Not gonna happen. He will get other advertizers in a heart beat. He should publicly call out & make fun of those stupid weaklings that pulled off of his show! This is A true fight for conservatism! I for one will never use any of their products or services again. Imus is weak! Rush is strong!

  3. Reminds me about when I once had a summer job in a warehouse and their was a certain goy who made very bigoted comments about different groups in front of me. i was told by another goy that when I wasn’t their he said worse about the Jews…

  4. Rabbi Goldstein,

Are you happier with the corrupt anti Semitic mainstream media?

The assimilation claim is total nonsense.

His main fault is his admiration of George Bush.

The best commentator to listen to on the radio is Michael Savage.

  5. Rabosai, Rush Limbaugh is not kosher. We should stay away from him. He is like a mad dog. We shouldn’t cheer him just because is biting those we don’t like. He can turn any time against us and use his dirty mouth in ways we wouldn’t like it.

  6. I’m always amazed by the adulation for some of the media. Yes, we appreciate their clear thinking and standing up for many of the things that need to be stood up for. Sure, there are worse things to listen to. But it’s hard to think of one who deserves a hechsher. When you turn on the radio, caveat emptor. I don’t listen to Rush much if at all (time, and I like shows with guests; and this isn’t a Rush thing, but I am not exactly enchanted with hosts who shout down or froth at the mouth either) but this was surprisingly vulgar.

  7. To Tsoorba comment 6, I do not live by any media….Im not their pet or tool, Rush is just a guy making money talking about what some people want to hear, he is vulgar and disgusting while claiming morality….
I do not think that a G-d fearing Jew should listen to him.
