The annual TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour takes place today, and to accommodate the expected 30,000 riders taking part, a number of roads will be closed to traffic.
The 42-mile tour, which passes through all the city’s boroughs, raps up on Staten Island, with riders entering Fort Wadsworth from the lower level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. They’ll then be directed to the St. George Ferry Terminal.
As a result, the lower-level of the Verrazano closed at 12:01 a.m. tonight, and will reopen at approximately 6 p.m. today. The ferry terminal will be closed to all traffic except buses, which will be detoured via Richmond Terrace. Passenger pick-up and drop-off and livery cars will be temporarily re-located to Hyatt Street, between Stuyvesant Place and St. Mark’s Place.
