  1. I think its a good sign that he feels it important to meet with gedolei torah. Its certainly a step in the right direction.

  2. From Wikipedia:

Peres’s grandfather, Rabbi Zvi Meltzer, a grandson of Rabbi Chaim Volozhin, had a great impact on his life. In an interview, Peres said: “As a child, I grew up in my grandfather’s home… I was educated by him… my grandfather taught me Talmud. It was not as easy as it sounds. My home was not an observant one. My parents were not Orthodox but I was Haredi. At one point, I heard my parents listening to the radio on the Sabbath and I smashed it.”

  3. He definitely is from the last of that old generation they knew and respected yidishkeit unlike the younger generation that have a hard time makin out the words shema yisroel but when he ran for pm in 96′ people were petrified if he wins charedim will end up in army and he will concede territory e.t.c. And so he definitely is a colorfull figure although he does have alot of frum connections and his intrest in frum people is legendary

  4. There is nothing lovely about hosting a person who is destroying the Jewish State by giving our land to the Arabs.

  5. Baruch Hashem, good idea.
Peres, as president has used his time to build bridges and relationships. Go for it!
