Shinseki: VA Revelations ‘Reprehensible’

veterans-affairs-secretary-eric-shinsekiWriting in today’s USA Today, embattled Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki declared that the recent inspector general’s report on fraud at the Phoenix VA is “reprehensible to me and to this department.”

Shinseki writes that upon seeing the report, he ordered that the 1,700 veterans awaiting care in that system be immediately contacted and provided help.

He also outlined the various steps he has taken since CNN reported the allegations of fraud and abuse, including a nationwide audit of all VA health-care facilities and the placement of members of the Phoenix leadership on leave. Read more at USA Today.
