rechnitz netanyahuNoted baal tzedakah and askan Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz of Los Angeles met privately last week with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu during the Herzliya Conference.

The meeting was kept secret and Mr. Rechnitz confirmed to Matzav.com that it indeed took place.

The Herzliya Conference was attended by politicians, industrialists and government officials who met to exchange views and discuss important issues that are central to the agenda of the State of Israel.

Many decisions, as well as political and economic initiatives, were introduced at the Herzliya Conference or at least gained momentum at the event.

At the prestigious conference, Mr. Rechnitz spoke one-on-one with Prime Minister Netanyahu. During the lengthy meeting, the two focused primarily on the chareidi community in Eretz Yisroel.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda reportedly expressed that he is willing to go to any and all lengths for the benefit of the Torah community in Israel, explaining to Prime Minister the importance or supporting and sustaining the world of yeshivos and the greater frum community in Israel.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda Rechnitz is well-known in the Torah world for his philanthropy. He is a baal chessed with a giant heart, whose days and nights are spent listening to the pleas of fellow Jews and others in need.  On both individual and communal levels, Reb Shlomo Yehuda has a virtual antenna up at all times seeking out ways in which he can help the yochid and the tzibbur.

The reach of Reb Shlomo Yehuda’s askanus extends well beyond the world of Torah and chesed into the halls of power. Reb Shlomo Yehuda thinks big when it comes to acting on behalf of the chareidi tzibbur. As reported earlier this year here on Matzav, Reb Shlomo Yehuda gave a generous 44,517 shekel donation to the election campaign of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Likud party.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda recognized that during the past year, has seen a strong disconnect between the chareidi parties in Israel and the prime minister. His goal has been and continues to be – as he told Netanyahu – to use his influence to positively impact the state of affairs in the post-election Knesset for the betterment of the chareidi public.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda is known for, among many other things, his remarkable musical talent, and his foray into Israeli affairs is music to the ears of those concerned for the welfare of the chareidi public in the coming years.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda’s uncle, Mr. Bobby Rechnitz, is the leader of the western division of the American Friends of Likud and a longtime personal friend and supporter of Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Reb Shlomo Yehuda also gained recognition earlier this year for traveling to Israel in the midst of the crisis in the Shas movement to influence Rabbi Aryeh Deri to stay as the leader of Shas and continue using his talents for the benefit of Klal Yisroel.

Umatzdikei harabim kakochavim l’olam va’ed.
