machaneh yehudaUpdated: A shooting in Yerushalayim’s Machane Yehuda market was revealed to be a criminal act – not a terror attack, police stated Friday afternoon, Arutz Sheva reports.

Earlier Friday, a 20 year-old IDF soldier shot a 25 year-old man after the latter tried to steal his gun.

Both were transported to local hospitals with injuries in the limbs – one to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center and one to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center, according to Magen David Adom (MDA).

United Hatzalah volunteers also arrived at the scene, and stated that they treated a third person, a bystander injured from shrapnel.

Arutz Sheva reports that initial concerns were high that the incident was a terror attack. However, an initial investigation now reveals that the confrontation was the outcome of an ongoing argument between the soldier’s father, a greengrocer in the market, and the 25 year-old, an owner of a popular bar in the same market.
