Sixth Casualty of Deadly Crash: Mrs. Leah Melamed a”h of Ezras Torah; Levayos of Six Victims z”l

The sixth victim of yesterday bus crash on Israel’s Highway 1 has been identified as Mrs. Leah Melamed a”h of Ezras Torah, Yerushalayim, She was 61 years old.

At about 1 a.m., Mrs. Melamed’s husband and family were notified of her petirah. She leaves behind her husband, Rav Naftali Shlomo Melemaed, and seven children. Her youngest son, Avrohom Yeshayahu Melamed, an alumnus of Yeshivas Tifrach, is slated to get married on 7 Adar Bais.

Mrs. Melamed was born in Yerushalayim on 25 Av, 1955. Her father, Rav Yehoshua Dov Grodzitzky, served as a rebbi for dayanim in Yerushalayim. Mrs. Melamed’s husband, Rav Naftali Shlomo is a R”M at Yeshivas Imrei Noam in Yerushalayim and a respected talmid chochom in Ezras Torah.

As reported earlier on Matzav, the fifth casualty of Sunday’s crash was Aharon Mordechai Cohen z”l. Aharon Mordechai lived on Rechov Bar Illan in Yerushalayim and was a talmid of Yeshivas Etz Chaim Bobov in Bnei Brak. He was 18. His father, Rav Moshe Dovid Cohen, is a respected member of the Rachmastrivke kehillah in Yerushalayim. His mother is Mrs. Chava Rochel Cohen, née Zlotnick.

The other victims are three bochurim, Yaakov Meir Cheshin (27) of Yerushalayim, Yisroel Weinberg (26) of Yerushalayim, Levi Yitzchok Amdadi (17) of Yavniel, and Mrs. Chana Pesha Frankel (23).

Yaakov Meir Cheshin z”l  lived with his parents in Ramot, Yerushalayim, and had previously learned at the Nadvorna Yeshiva in Bnei Brak and was close to the Nadvorna Rebbe zt”l. Over the past few years, he learned at the Breslover Kollel in Meah Shearim.

His friends say that Yaakov Meir was an outstanding ben Torah, with special middos, and a noble personality, which endeared him to family and friends. He was on bus #402 en route to a date in Bnei Brak, and spent the bus ride immersed in his learning. Yaakov Meir was expected to get engaged in the near future.

Yisroel Weinberg z”l was a resident of the Shmuel Hanovi neighborhood of Yerushalayim and studied at the Slonimer Yeshiva. He was traveling to attend a simcha in Bnei Brak.

Mrs. Chana Pesha Frankel a”h was a daughter of the Biala-Ostrovtsa Rebbe. Her husband, a son of Botshaner Rebbe, was with her and survived the crash.

The levayah of Yisroel Weinberg is being held at Shamgar, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.

The levayah of Yaakov Meir Cheshin will be held at noon at Shamgar, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos.

The levayah of Levi Yitzchok Amdadi will be held in Yavniel this afternoon.

  1. Earlier reports said there were children involved…can anyone verify this…or are these adults the children? May the families be consoled and may they bring Moshiach with their united cry in Shumayim…bekorov!!!!
