skverer-rebbeIn the coming week, the Skverer community in Shikun Skver, led by the Skverer Rebbe, Rav Dovid Twersky, will celebrate the inauguration of a large, beautiful tish hall, where all the Rebbe’s future tishen and large gatherings will be held.

The hall, named Heichal Rinah U’Tefillah, was constructed following the completion of the main bais medrash in Skver at the end of the 1990s. At the time, various askanim proposed the building of a hall next to the bais medrash, and near the Rebbe’s home, to host tishen and other events.

In the past, for each tish, chairs and tables have had to be set up to accommodate the large crowds. With a designated tish hall, much labor, shlepping and inconvenience will be avoided.

A hanochas even hapinah for the new building was held 10 years ago and construction followed. The project was complicated and was quite costly, but local askanim persevered and saw the project to its completion.

No stone was left unturned in the building of the hall and no corners were cut. Jerusalem stone was brought from Eretz Yisroel to enhance the design of the building. Other unique enhancements have been made as well.  The building features a mammoth main hall, as well as side rooms for davening and learning. A small portion of the building is reserved for the Rebbe’s use.

Though the building is not completely finished, the upcoming Yom Tov tishen will be held there.

  1. Why give credit to “various” askanim, the building didn’t mysteriously rise up by itself.

It was the tireless work of a single asken R’ Avraham Moshe Silberman who brought this enormous state-of-the-art, architecturally magnificent as well as prudent structure to fruition. And he did it with little or no support from virtually anyone in the so-called establishment.
