edward-snowden[Update below.] After a month straight of eating food from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, this must be welcome news for Edward Snowden. The fugitive leaker reportedly was granted key immigration documents from Russia on Tuesday, according to local media-meaning he can finally leave the airport.

Snowden has been in limbo at the airport for a month after he fled Hong Kong to seek asylum elsewhere. He has been charged with espionage by the U.S. government after leaking documents detailing the National Security Agency’s domestic spying program, and he recently sought temporary asylum in Moscow. He will be handed the documents by a lawyer and also will be provided with new clothes. Everyone can be thankful for that one. Read more at BBC News.

Update:  A lawyer advising National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden says his asylum status has not been resolved and that he is going to stay at the Moscow airport for now.

Anatoly Kucherena, who was visiting the American at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Wednesday, said that migration officials are still looking at this asylum request and that this process had been drawn out. Kucherena said that Snowden is staying in the transit zone “for now” and “intends to stay in Russia, study Russian culture.” Read more here.
