Edward Snowden and WikiLeaks engaged in a highly public Twitter beef on Thursday afternoon after the NSA whistleblower criticized leak-publishing outlet’s handling of several recent leaks. Snowden slammed the non-profit organization’s failure to hide personal information: “Democratizing information has never been more vital, and @Wikileaks has helped. But their hostility to even modest curation is a mistake,” he tweeted.
“Opportinism won’t earn you a pardon from Clinton & curation is not censorship of ruling party cash flows,” WikiLeaks fired back, including a link to the Wikipedia page for “digital curation.” While the two InfoSec heavyweights usually share an amicable relationship on Twitter, WikiLeaks has come under recent fire for publishing personal contact information in its leaks of Democratic National Committee emails and Turkish government communications.
