
Elor Azaria, the Israeli soldier convicted of manslaughter last year for shooting dead a disarmed Palestinian terrorist in Chevron in 2016, is set for early release after his prison sentence was by reduced by a third.
Azaria will be released on May 10, five months ahead of his expected October 2018 release date, after a parole board accepted a proposal put forth by the prosecution that would see his 14-month sentence reduced by a third on account of good behavior.

I’m glad he’s being released earlier than planned, but the halachic truth is that he shouldn’t be in prison at all.
