The bridge connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn will now be spelled Z right way, the NY POST reports. The Assembly passed a bill Tuesday to correct the spelling of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which, for decades has been missing one “Z” because of a typo in the construction contract.

Lawmakers also inserted a clause stating that road signs with the misspelled name would be replaced only when they wear out, not immediately. Read more at the NY POST.

  1. Why does the corrupt State have to waste millions of our hard earned tax dollars on this stupid spelling change?! They can easily give it to a handful of New York teenagers who are already on Youth Corp and save millions! My older son, who will be receiving Youth Corp, was very excited about such an opportunity. He said he won’t even ask for insurance, disability, transportation, over time, time n half, sensitivity training, 3 hour lunch break, & 1 hour coffee break.

  2. Finally! I can sleep at night again! What an outright, brazen, 500-year bizayon it has been for the late, great Giovanni da Verrazzano.

  3. How silly. Will the entire city of Cleveland now change its name’s spelling to accurately match the person it’s named after, General Moses Cleaveland?

    • While we’re at it, NYC’s very own “Bronx” s/b “Bronck’s” (it’s named after the Bronck family name).

  4. Apparently state legislators are bored. Have nothing better to do. I propose installing computers in the state house with unfiltered internet access to er um keep em busy if you know what I mean.
