A state of emergency and a curfew have been put in place as police and protesters continue to clash amid smoke and rubber bullets in Baltimore. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake placed a 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew on the city that will begin on Tuesday.

Governor Larry Hogan announced a state of emergency for Maryland and asked the National Guard to assist in efforts to subdue the riotous crowds that set fire to a CVS and injured at least seven police officers.

“Today’s looting and acts of violence in Baltimore will not be tolerated,” Hogan wrote in a post on Facebook in which he condemned the violence of demonstrators and promised to prosecute them “under the full extent of the law.” Read more at Maryland.gov.

  1. Where is the President of the United States to comment on this situation? Why wont he calm his Brothers? Is he busy on the golf course?

  2. It is unfortunate however these death are too frequent to ignore I believe that PEACEFUL demonstration is necessary. Since sep 11 a systematic trend of losing liberties and government increase of power and intimidation has occured. There are some racist and prejudistic morons that feel that because the victims are black feel that is justice, but let me remind you that when the rights of one citizen is violated eventually they will violate our as well.

  3. It starts from the top down. If the President doesn’t care how they behave, then this is what they will do. In fact, he sympathizes with them. Have you seen how this country has spiraled downhill since he has taken office? What a shame.

  4. Two nations between whom there is no intercourse and no sympathy; who are as ignorant of each other’s habits, thoughts, and feelings, as if they were dwellers in different zones, or inhabitants of different planets. The rich and the poor.
