Suspicious Package Outside Lakewood PD Determined To Be Wet Towels

Lakewood, NJ – A suspicious package was found outside the door of the police department Wednesday night, but a bomb sniffing dog determined there was nothing but wet towels inside.

A custodian told police there as a duffle bag left outside the the front doors at 7:18 p.m. along Third Street.

“We treated it as an unattended package and called the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department for their bomb sniffing dog,” said Lt. Louis Sasso.

He said the contents of the bag were just beach clothes, wet towels and snorkles.

The bag was placed in the police department property room and no owner has claimed it, Sasso said.
