Miami Beach Police are currently looking for Jasper Walker, a man they say fled from a stolen vehicle this morning and is possibly armed, NBC Miami reports.
SWAT and K-9 units have responded to the scene on Collins Avenue between 41st and 46th Streets – an area officers are telling drivers to avoid. They are searching for a man named Jasper Walker.
All schools in the area are on lockdown.
The area being canvassed is predominantly Jewish.
Update: Patch.com reports that police reopened traffic shortly before 2:30 p.m. on minutes before the suspect identified as Jasper Walker was taken into custody in the rear of the Fontainebleau by hotel security and Miami Beach police, according to the department’s Ernesto Rodriguez.
A Fontainebleau employee told Patch that the massive luxury hotel was placed on lockdown around 1 p.m. and guests were asked to remain in their rooms as the manhunt unfolded outside.
