Syrian Humanitarian Crisis ‘Staggering’: Nearly 2 Million People Internally Displaced

syriaThe violent conflict in Syria has created a “staggering” humanitarian crisis, according to the International Rescue Committee.

The carnage has killed more than 60,000 people since it began in March 2011. But it has also internally displaced an estimated 2 million people, and an additional 600,000 Syrians have fled the country.

The IRC also described the level of immoral violence taking place in the country as “horrific” and said that many refugees have cited it as the main reason they left Syria. International aid has been “drastically insufficient” for a “steadily worsening crisis” the group warned. Read more at BBC.
