T.J. Maxx and Marshalls Employees Told to Trash Ivanka Trump Signs

Employees at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx—both owned by TJX Companies—were told to discard Ivanka Trump in-store marketing signs and to mix her merchandise into other racks, as the retailers distance themselves from the first daughter’s brand.

“Effective immediately, please remove all Ivanka Trump merchandise from features and mix into the runs,” a note read. “All Ivanka Trump signs should be discarded.” (“Runs” are the normal clothing racks.)

Doreen Thompson, a spokeswoman for the company, confirmed that the message had been sent out to various store locations. “The communication was intended to instruct stores to mix this line of merchandise into our racks, not to remove it from the sales floor,” Thompson told The New York Times. “We offer a rapidly changing selection of merchandise for our customers, and brands are featured based on a number of factors.” Read more at THE NEW YORK TIMES.

  1. The left is completely and totally unhinged. I guess they feel an existential threat in Trump and common sense, thus the visceral antagonism to anything that’s related to him or anyone on the right (tarti mashma). “Kein yovdu kol oivecha Hashem”

    • I am definitely not in a low income bracket, but I love shopping in TJ Maxx and Marshalls. They have good quality merchandise at very good prices. I don’t see any reason to pay more for the same item just because I can. But I will definitely let them know (either verbally, or by writing a letter) my displeasure with this policy.

Also, I think it is disgusting of you and in very poor taste to call someone a loser just because they don’t make as much money as you. You have very twisted priorities and sound like a baal gaivah.

  2. Janet- only moral and spiritual losers conflate income level with a person’s innate worth. I am reminded of an old ad for Citibank that was conceived for the likes of you: “the one who dies with the most stuff wins.”

  3. Janet, there are plenty people who have low income per family member, and aren’t losers at all. Why shouldn’t a frum mother with 8 children, paying 8 tuitions, dress her kids in quality clothes at a fraction of department store prices, for the same merchandise. Perhaps they feel that they rather save on clothing, and not ask others to subsidize their kids’ schar limud.
By your logic, only wasteful fools and show offs overspend at expensive stores, when the same merchandise is available for far less.

  4. To Janet,. ..I shop in these stores. Do you care to repeat your comment to my face???? I guess being careful with yiddish gelt is not on everyone’s agenda and I respect that, but how dare you ….and what exactly is matzav.com looking for when they review comments for posting?

  5. Wow, Janet. Are you saying that lower income people are losers?! Are those who earn or spend more money better than those who earn less? I guess I’m a low income loser! Or maybe I’m a smart and savvy shopper who spends less on more.

  6. janet – you are a loser – for putting down people with low income. Where does your arrogance come from? Anything you may or may not have comes from G-D. Watch your mouth…

  7. looks like janet’s trolling this site. tj maxx is the BEST place to shop! they buy overstock. why pay retail when you can buy clearance there for a couple bucks (if you’re not getting your clothes free from a gemach, which is best)? and no, i most certainly don’t “have to” shop there.
