In the most recent OU Webcast with the OU Poskim, the following question was received: “What chumrah should one take on as a zechus for a choleh?”
Rabbi Safran, the moderator, directed the question to Rav Yisroel Belsky.
Rav Belsky responded that the chumrah should be in an area in which he – the questioner – is weak.
Rabbi Safran commented that this presupposes that the mezakeh recognizes that he has an area of weakness.
Rav Belsky’s response was that the first chumrah to take upon oneself is to recognize that one has an area of weakness.

this is a beautiful thought!
Thank you
I am emailing it to my list
Thank you for this uplifting machshava from the rosh yeshiva.
May we all take it to our hearts
can you post the video of the whole webcast? Is there anywhere online where I can see it?
I see Matzav is in full “cover up” mode, now! No saying the Emes here!
Rav Belsky’s comment was brilliant
I’d like to change for the zchus of a few cholim I know.
It would have been preferable to cite the true source of the actual write-up of the webcast quote. It appeared in Rabbi Dovid Cohen’s KASHEIR HADAVAR, a collection of Rav Belsky’s piskei dinim.

It looks like the same idea – that if you can’t find any flaws in yourself, you are not looking well enough…
