Taliban Calls Off U.S. P.O.W. Talk

army-sgt-bowe-bergdahlPeace talks with the Afghan Taliban appear to be crumbling very fast. Last week, it was revealed that the U.S. and the Afghan Taliban were renewing discusssions about a swap of five Taliban members for America’s only prisoner of war, Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. However, today, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said, “The leadership of the Islamic Emirate has decided to suspend the process for some time due to the current complex political situation in the country.”

Also today, the Taliban killed 21 Afghan soliders in the mountainous region of Kunar, which borders Pakistan. Six soliders are also missing after the Taliban’s most deadly assault on Afghan security forces in months. Read more at CNN.com.
