bostoner-rebbeRav Levi Yitzchok Horowitz, the Bosntoner Rebbe, was admitted yesterday to Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center for a series of tests following a period of days during which he hadn’t been feeling well. By the time the doctors were finished examining him, the hour was very late and it was determined that the Rebbe should stay in the hospital overnight and he’d be discharged in the morning. However, during the early morning hours, the Rebbe suffered chest pains and then cardiac arrest. A family member has informed Matzav.com via email that the Rebbe is in critical, but stable condition. A short while ago, at the Kosel, at 9:15 p.m., a tefillah gathering was held as zechus for a refuah sheleimah for Rav Levi Yitzchok ben Sarah Sasha.

The Rebbe, who is 88, is a son of the founder of the Bostoner dynasty, Rav Pinchos Dovid Horowitz zt”l. The Rebbe, who originally resided in Boston and moved to Har Nof in Yerushalayim several years ago, has led Chassidei Boston since 1944. The Rebbe’s rebbetzin of 60 years was niftar 7 years ago.

When daveing for a speedy refuah for The Bostoner Rebbe Shlita ,please use his full name i.e. HaRav Levi Yitzchok Ben Sorah Sasha HaLevi .
May he be strong and well .

  2. I don’t think your comment is consistent with halachic practice. HaRav is not used when davening for a refuah, even for a gadol b’yisrael. And HaLevi (or HaKohen) is not used following the mother’s name. Have you checked this out??

  3. In the Rebbe shlit”a’s shul in Har nof it is also said w/o HaRav or Halevi. And in today’s Israel Yated the name is preceeded by “Rebi” in small print.

  4. You guys are retarded! Stop waisting your time on minors such as this. Pray instead. Trust me when I say that god knows who you guys are praying for.

  5. There’s merit to the point of praying with the full correct name. Yes, of course Hashem know who we are davening for but this has been the custom for generations and probably there is basis for saying the full name, in our sefarim.

However, I agree that the cynicasm is not in place. I understand the statement “Refuah for Bostoner Rebbe Shlita” made was purely trying to convey that the full name be said, not necessarily the “harav” or “halevi”.

“Confused” is correct that generally titles are not used when davening for cholim.

    Let’s daven for the gadol.

  6. Please continue having the Bostoner Rebbe, shlita in mind in your tefillos

Harav Levi Yitzchak Halevi ben Sara Sasha

The above message is what is on the Bostoner’s American website. I’m sure all of the previous comments were made with good intentions.)
