Tefillos for Harav Mendel Slomovits

[Updated below.] All our asked to say Tehillim for Harav Mendel Slomovitz, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Toras Chaim of Lakewood, NJ, who will be undergoing by-pass surgery this morning. Rav Slomovits had been admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital and the doctors had planned to perform the surgery on Erev Shabbos. For medical reasons, however, the surgery was postponed until this morning. Rav Slomovits has since been transferred to Columbia University Medical Center, where the surgery will take place. All are asked to daven, say Tehillim and learn as a zechus for a refuah sheleimah for Rav Menachem Mendel ben Rus.

Rav Slomovits, in addition to serving as rosh yeshiva, delivers the ninth grade shiur at Yeshiva Toras Chaim, which is located on Ridge Avenue, adjacent to the White Oak and Red Oak developments in Lakewood. He is renowned as a master mechanech and is consulted regularly regarding chinuch matters and other issues.

While it is already bein hazemanim, the bochurim of the yeshiva are going to be bussed this morning by Negba Bus Company to the yeshiva to gather and say Tehillim as a zechus for the rosh yeshiva.

Update, 1:50 p.m.: The surgery went well, boruch Hashem, and the doctors hope that Rav Slomovits will make a full recovery and be able to resume his avodas hakodesh in the future. It appears that the rosh yeshiva will have to spend Yom Tov in the hospital recuperating, but all are glad that the prognosis is good.
