Alumni of Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland joined together for a reunion on Wednesday, 3 Iyar/May 11, at Young Israel of Avenue K in Flatbush. Although the event was billed as a 50th reunion of the class of 1965-66, over 150 alumni from throughout the years participated.

Sruly Braunstein of the Yovel class, a recipient of the Alumni Leadership Award at the yeshiva’s upcoming dinner, organized and sponsored the event.

Talmidim traveled in from Baltimore, Chicago, Toronto and Cleveland, joining those who live locally in the New York area. Many of them hadn’t seen each other since their graduation 50 years ago.

Reb Sruly Braunstein chaired event and spoke about the tremendous influence of Telshe Yeshiva on the lives of its talmidim.

Rav Ahron Dovid Goldberg then shared from the Shiurei Daas that talmidim in a yeshiva don’t just happen to come together. Rather, Hashgachah puts them together as a chaburah and they are therefore mekushar for life.

Rav Avrohom Turin, mashgiach at Yeshiva Bais Moshe in Scranton, who was a rebbi at the Telshe Mechina 50 years ago, spoke about the gadlus of their rabbeim, Rav Elya Meir Bloch and Rav Mottel Katz, and how they shaped Cleveland, Chicago and much of the American Torah landscape.

  1. Cleveland is the Lion of America. It is a great place to do business and have friends. I hope you realize that 216 area code is the same as the 216 as the gematria of Lion. I just learned that tonight! Special! Shalom.
