12 surgeons spent 26 hours this week surgically separating two conjoined twins in Texas, 10-month-olds Knatalye and Adeline Mata. The two girls had been conjoined from their ribcages down to their pelvises; some of their internal organs, including their liver and lungs, were also conjoined.
Luckily, the girls each had their own hearts, which beat separately, and doctors estimated they had a good chance of surviving the complicated surgery.
Hospital bills have added up for the girls’ parents, however, and they have set up a Facebook page for donations. Read more at ABC News.
