Under the revisions to the Senate tax plan released Tuesday night, the child tax credit would double from $1,000 per child. The previous Senate plan called for raising the credit to $1,650.
Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Mike Lee, R-Utah, pushed for the $2,000 per child credit, saying it would provide more relief to middle-income taxpayers. Read more at CNBC.

The new numbers from Congress’ Joint Committee on Taxation showed that beginning in 2021, many families earning under $30,000 annually would face higher taxes under the Senate package. By 2027, families making less than $75,000 would face tax boosts while those making more would enjoy lower levies.
