The Stretiner Rebbetzin, Rebbetzin Tziporah Brandwein a”h

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of the Stretiner Rebbetzin, Rebbetzin Tziporah Brandwein a”h, this evening in Yerushalayim. The Rebbetzin was the wife of the Stretiner Rebbe, Rav Avrohom Brandwein.

The Rebbetzin resided in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Yerushalayim, where her husband’s bais medrash is located and where many Yidden visit the Rebbe to receive guidance in Toras Hanistar and imbibe the atmosphere of Torah and kedushah that permeates the Stretiner Bais Medrash. Well known for his weekly Shabbos Shacharis minyan at the Kosel and the divrei Torah he delivers there each week, the Rebbe has served as a source of inspiration to many for decades.

The Rebbetzin, a daughter of Rav Aharon Zeltzer zt”l, was well known for her chessed on behalf of the tzibbur and for assisting numerous families. She assisted her husband in his avodas hakodesh, as he continues the mesorah of Bais Stretin, which traces its roots to the talmidim of the Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid of Mezritch.

The Rebbetzin was nifteres after a prolonged illness during which she suffered yissurim. She was 62.

The levaya was held this evening on Shamgar and kevurah took place a short while ago on Har Hazeisim.
