shalom-weinberger-tchaba-rovIt is with great sadness that we report the passing this morning in Yerushalayim of the Tchaba Rov, Rav Shalom Weinberger zt”l, at the age of 74.

The Rebbe was born in Hungary on 5 Sivan 5700. He was a son of Rav Yaakov Weinberger and a grandson of the Tchaba Rov, Rav Shraga Shmuel Shnitzler.

The Rov led his kehillah on Rechov Yitzchok Blazer in the Bais Yisroel neighborhood of Yerushalayim and later in the Gush Shmonim neighborhood of Yerushalayim, where many would gather to join the Rov for tefillos and to receive his guidance and chizuk.

The Rov served for many years as the chazzan on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in the bais medrash of the Erlauer Rebbe in the Katamon section of Yerushalayim. The Rov also frequented the Belzer Bais Medrash, where he would served as the chazzan each year on Shabbos Shirah.

The Rov is survived by a family of bnei and bnos Torah. Among his mechutanim are the admorim of Sanz, Slonim and others. His son-in-law is the famed mashpiah, Rav Nachman Biderman.

The levaya was held this afternoon at Bais Medrash Ateres Shmuel-Tchaba on Rechov Eliezrov in Gush Shmonim. Kevurah took place on Har Hamenuchos.

Yehi zichro boruch.
