hikindAssemblyman Dov Hikind is reiterating his call to New York Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand to reconsider her stated decision to support the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In a letter to Gillibrand on August 12, Hikind requested a meeting with Gillibrand, stating that in light of additional information coming out regarding the deal, “it is not too late to do the right thing.” In his letter to Gillibrand, Hikind wrote: “As more and more Americans learn about the deal and secret or side deals, there has been massive disappointment in your decision, and I urge you to reconsider.”

“Today we learned from the AP that the UN will let Iran inspect itself. Are we insane? Is this a joke? Senator Gillibrand has come out in support of what she calls an ‘imperfect’ Iran deal. I’ve written to her that, ‘The stakes are simply too high for the United States to accept a bad deal. In a decade from now, when Iran possesses a nuclear weapon and long-range missiles that can hit the United States, what will you then answer your constituents?’ Senator Menendez of New Jersey hit on this exact point when he said, ‘if Iran is to acquire a nuclear bomb, it will not have my name on it.’”

“As more and more details come out about this deal, the more Americans are realizing that it is disastrous. I am calling on a massive effort to convince Senator Gillibrand to have the courage to take a second look. There is still an opportunity for New Yorkers to call and tell her how they feel. You were successful with Senator Schumer. Senator Gillibrand knows it is not a good deal. It’s far from imperfect, it’s disastrous.”
