It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of the Zvhiller Rebbe of Union City, NJ, Rav Shlomo Goldman zt”l. He was 70 years old.

Known as the Zvhil-Sanzer rebbe, the rebbe presided over the Sanz-Klausenberger community in Union City, guiding his flock there for decades.

Rav Shlomo was a son of the previous Zviller Rebbe, Rav Mordechai Goldman, the Yekara D’Malka, and a son-in-law of the late Sanz-Klausenburger Rebbe, Rav Yekusiel Yehudah Halberstam. His brother was the Zvhiller Rebbe of Yerushalayim, Rav Avrohom Goldman.

The rebbe had battled illness of late and was hospitalized for a few months. He passed away overnight.

The rebbe was born in Yerushalayim on 11 Nissan in 1947 to his parents, Rav Mordechai and Rebbetzin Shaine Rochel. He was named after his elter-zaide, the famed Rav Shlomke of Zvhill.

In 1967, he married his wife, Rebbetzin Miriam Leah, the oldest daughter of the Sanz-Klausenberger Rebbe, the Shefa Chaim, making him a brother-in-law of the current Sanzer Rebbe and Sanz-Klausenberger Rebbe.

After living in Netanya, Israel, following his marriage, the rebbe subsequently relocated to Union City, to the kehillah founded by his father-in-law, becoming rosh yeshiva. He later assumed the mantle of rebbe of the community.

The levaya is being held now in Union City. The aron will be flown to Eretz Yisroel for a levayah and kevurah on Sunday on Har Hazeisim.

The rebbe does not leave behind any children.

All are asked to learn as a zechus for the neshamah of Rav Shlomo ben Rav Mordechai.

Yehi zichro boruch.
