neumanYeshivas Bais Tzvi Yaakov, better known in the frum world as TheYeshiva@IDT, recently announced that it has hired former student Tuvye (Mayer) Neuman as the new executive director of the yeshiva.

The Yeshiva@IDT, located in the IDT corporate building in Newark N.J., is the brainstorm of IDT founder and Chairman Howard Jonas. Mr. Jonas founded the yeshiva 8 years ago as a place where high school graduates could learn the intricacies of the financial world and obtain a college degree while continuing to learn Torah in a yeshiva atmosphere.

The yeshiva is led by its two well-known roshei Yyeshiva, Rav Dovid Weiss from Bergenfield, N.J., and Rav Shmuel Skaist from Monsey, N.Y. The yeshiva offers a strong morning seder, where the talmidim learn Gemara, halacha and machshava, and in the afternoon its students pursue one of multiple Bachelor’s degree programs in which its students educate and prepare themselves for the professional world.

Tuvye, a student of Satmar living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, joined the yeshiva just two years ago.

“When he stepped into my office for the first time in his chassidishe levush,” said Rav Weiss, “I was already impressed… He was well spoken, confident, learned and comfortable in his own skin. It didn’t take me long to realize that we wanted him as a part of our student body. Little did we know that pretty soon he’d be our executive director.”

From the beginning of his first semester, Tuvye hit it off right away, creating a bond with the roshei yeshiva, fellow students and professors. He absorbed all that was being taught both in limudei kodesh and in his college courses. He received top grades on all his tests, even creating and leading his own review classes before midterms and finals.

It was natural that the yeshiva, in search of a new executive director, offered this position to Tuvye. With his rational thinking, outgoing personality and passion for the yeshiva which taught him so much, he will help it grow and prosper.
