Thieves Steal Pushkahs from Scranton Shul

beth shalom scrantonScranton, PA – City police said that three pushkahs were stolen from the Beth Shalom shul in Scranton, PA, sometime during the night earlier this week.

Shul President Richard Swartz told police the thief most likely entered through an unlocked door sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, according to Lt. Glenn Thomas.

Police were called to the shul at Vine Street and Clay Avenue Monday afternoon.

The amount of cash stolen was not immediately available.

Police ask that anyone with information about the theft contact them at (570) 348-4139.

  1. It’s such a shame that there are poor people in Scranton that have to steal to eat. Why should this be? Instead of calling the police perhaps it’s time to call in the chesed spirits and make sure people don’t have to resort to stealing from charity.
