Thousands of people are expected to flock to Stonehenge to mark the longest day of the year, known as the summer solstice, The Daily Mail reports. Every year the neolithic Wiltshire monument becomes the center of day-long celebrations to mark the official start of summer.
Up to 25,000 people are expected to attend the 2018 summer solstice at the site, where sunrise is due to take place at 4:52 a.m. on Thursday.
Onlookers will watch as the sun rises behind the Heel Stone, the ancient entrance to the Stone Circle, and rays of sunlight are channeled into the center of the monument. The Daily Mail.
