Three people were injured after a gunman opened fire at a southern Maryland high school on Tuesday.

St. Mary’s County Public Schools wrote on Twitter Tuesday that there had been a shooting at Great Mills High School. The school remained on lockdown, but the incident had been “contained,” the tweet said.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said its agents were en route to the scene of the shooting.
