Apple CEO Tim Cook penned a Washington Post op-ed Sunday railing against what he believes is discriminatory legislation proposed in more than two dozen states, after Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed a bill into law that appears to allow business owners to refuse service to same-gender couples in the state.

The 54-year-old called on major businesses to join Apple in opposing the controversial legislation, which is similar to the Indiana bill that critics say allow business owners to discriminate against the toeivah community based on religious freedom.

Cook argued the discriminatory legislation undermines economic and job growth.

“America’s business community recognized a long time ago that discrimination, in all its forms, is bad for business,” Cook wrote. Read more at the Washington Post.

  1. These religious freedom laws protect us from having to compromise on our principles. Imagine the Rose Castle in Williamsburg being forced to host a toieva wedding or a Bais Yaakov being forced to rent out its hall to a toeiva meeting!

  2. You do understand that this law allows them to discriminate against Yidden, too, right? Don’t forget that many of those on the christian religious right that you are praising have a “strong and deeply held conviction” that Yidden killed their G-d and would like not to do business with you either.

  3. Right wingers have a problem.

Their ideology is that capitalism is good and that it rewards the good. Apple is either the largest or second largest public corporation in the world.

But their ideology also says that bashing TOEIVAH is good. How can the leader of a corporation worth over $300 billion could disagree with that?
