mark-zuckerbergTIME magazine has named Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg Person of the Year. Zuckerberg’s accomplishments in 2010 are truly outstanding: he cemented Facebook’s status as the biggest social network and one of the hottest internet companies, surging past 500 million users. He’s one of the world’s youngest billionaires, and recently he pledged to give majority of his wealth to charity.‘For connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them; for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives, Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is TIME’s 2010 Person of the Year,’ explains TIME.

Not everyone agrees with the choice, however. WikiLeaks founder and owner Julian Assange was also a likely candidate, and many commenters over on TIME think his accomplishments are far more important that Zuckerberg’s.

What do you think? Do you agree with TIME’s choice, or would you prefer to have seen Julian Assange (or perhaps someone else) named the Person of the Year?

  1. Facebook and similar sites are responsible for the breakdown of Yiddishkeit, for countless frum men and woman, boys and girls, leaving the fold of authentic judaism.

We should not be giving prominence to Facebook or its founder. period.

Oy. Oy.Oy. When is Mashiach arriving already?!

  2. It’s supposed to be (according to them) the peorson who had the most effect on world history, reguardless if possitive or negative (as you’ll see Obama there, with Hitler and Stalin, along side Bush and Guliani). I think Assange would be more appropriate.

  3. I’ve heard of Facebook for sure,But I have no idea what it is, or does.
It doesn’t seem to be so important to my life.
All of you facebook people should get a life.

  4. He now joins previous Time Man of the Year alumni like Adolph Hitler and two-time winner of Time’ Man of the Year, Joseph Stalin.

  5. #3 countless realy? how many do you know of before you stopped counting? is it even more than 10?
#7 if you have no idea what facebook is or does, how can you possibly have an opinion?
#9 as has been explained “man of the year” is not good-guy of the year Are you saying hitler and Stalin did not have big (albeit bad ones)effects on the world during the years they were “man of the year”?
